Recently an Al Jazeera article revealed a new sonic weapon may have been used by the United States in Venezuela. While others may have already experienced this technology – called “Havana Syndrome” – until recently those experiences were refuted as simple health concerns.
In past times, secrecy was maintained by withholding information (and in some places still is). In today’s world of constant information streams, secrecy is maintained by simply flooding the streams with misinformation and disinformation. It’s like sifting through a pile of sand and attempting to extract individual grains of bad sand from the entire pile.
It’s highly effective, and challenging. There’s no foundation on which to stand.
While the challenges are new, our responses may not have caught up.
Pluto in Leo vs Pluto in Aquarius
The blog Androgyny, Interrupted explored how the Pluto in Leo generation – the leaders of the United States, Russia, and China – have negative reactions to Pluto (and Uranus and Neptune) in Aquarius generational shifts in gender and identity. Effeminate men, childless women, and homosexuality are being forced back into the closet.
While our Pluto-in-Leo global leaders do not embrace Aquarian gender, identity, and relationships, they are fully embracing Aquarian technology including all that is included in the realm of this fixed air sign associated with invention: information/disinformation, cyber security/surveillance, and sonic defense/warfare.
The United States Department of Homeland Security website contains (or did) images of 19th century wagon trains while IRL (in real life) employing the most advanced, and until recently, secret technology.
Why the cultural mismatch?
Pluto-in-Leo for you; Pluto-in-Aquarius for me. The idealistic, romantic past for you, the most modern defense for me.
Yet Aquarius is “we” while Leo is “me.”
In the ancient tomes I consulted when learning astrology back in the 1980s, I recollect someone describing Aquarius as always doing things backwards, in reverse, or contrary. That would align with the rebellious and future-seeking Aquarius.
Is Pluto-in-Aquarius playing “backwards” with a twist?
The National Rifle Association (NRA)
The NRA founded in 1871 in the today Democratic state of New York, was focused on skill with rifles. In 1871 your rifle was “the police.” The United States constitution – from 1776 – protects the right to bear arms which was very important in the 18th century.
How could 18th century men envision 20th century boys with modern weapons gunning down their classmates in emulation of Hollywood films?
There were few schools in 1776. There were no movies. Survival was tough so folks may have been more focused on hunting, eating, and surviving rather than reckless violence with no survival outcome.
The NRA has a polarity of sun in Scorpio, Pluto in Taurus. Pluto rules Scorpio and both are associated with evolution, death, sex, and taxes. Scorpio boundary crosses while Taurus is self-reliant. The NRA was founded with the goal of improved self-reliance through training and education – Taurus.
In the late 20th century, the NRA became political – Scorpio, the sign of our national elections.
Did the creators of the US Constitution intend for the Second Amendment to promote self-reliance? Or did they intend to have the means to overthrow any tyrannical force? Or both? Or something else?
Regardless of intent, the goal is now null and void. We’re interdependent. Our personal weaponry is useless against advanced technology.
John Wayne vs Darth Vader
Not a fan of cowboy movies or alien movies, I reluctantly agreed to go with a friend who wanted to see the 2011 movie Cowboys and Aliens.
Remembering little about a movie – any movie – tells me I didn’t enjoy it much, my mind was wandering. And that’s what I recollect about this movie, my thoughts.
Why not? I thought. Aliens could invade at any time, cowboy time or medieval time or Neolithic time. Why are aliens always viewed as “the future?”
Maybe aliens came during “cowboy times,” cloned the cowboys and used them to populate parts of the United States! Just maybe!
The United States today still retains its “cowboy culture” of How the West Was Won while at the same time facing Lord Vader armed with plastic-armored fighters with laser weapons.
Guns to hunt or defend against personal threats is still effective. But against larger forces are simply cowboys against aliens.
Pluto in Aquarius
Pluto is transforming the energy of Aquarius which is group ideals, technology, brotherhood, freedom, and rebellion. It’s a fixed sign so stubborn. Pluto takes 20 years or so to do its work.
By nature, air signs live in the head, in thoughts. They are not up for the Gunfight at the O.K. Coral that more earthy or fiery signs enjoy. Aquarius develops the laser technology that the John Wayne and Darth Vader types use then goes back to the lab to improve the resistance of cowboy hats and plastic armor.
Aquarius is the eleventh, or second-to-last, sign of the zodiac. The end of the zodiac begins to rise above the concerns that most engage us as humans in the fight for survival. Aquarius takes us to more humanitarian thoughts (even if its ideas are used contrary to this).
Pluto will then shift into Pisces which is the merging of self into the whole, the whole that is always here.
