According to the July/August 2013 issue of Archaeology Magazine, the Viking Age began on June 8, 793.
“According to historians, the Viking Age began on June 8, A.D. 793, at an island monastery off the coast of northern England. A contemporary chronicle recorded the moment with a brief entry: ‘The ravages of heathen men miserably destroyed God’s church on Lindisfarne, with plunder and slaughter.'”
Reading this yesterday, I realized June 8 was today (or as of yesterday, tomorrow).
My, I hope we don’t have a Viking blow-in this year.
On that fateful day, Pluto was in 26 degrees of Capricorn and the moon in Aries. We’ve got a little of that Aries/Capricorn bumping (via Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn) going on today.
In 793, Uranus and Neptune were conjunct in Virgo. The perfect world collapsed in a pile of death and fire.
Nasty.
Saturn in Taurus, in 793, indicated a loss of wealth – very true. Today Saturn is in the opposite sign – Scorpio – which is the wealth of others.
So what’s up for this June 8?
Our Viking raids, which demolish our sense of the world both physically and mentally, in some parts of the world have lost the physical aspect. That’s a good thing, of course. In the US we may not having Viking raiders on the shore but we might have government raiders on our phone call.
Gemini, you know, is about communication.
And some, unfortunately, still experience Viking-like raids.
For the monks at Lindisfarne, the raid was a great message that there are many others on the planet and they might come marauding into your life. It was both physical and mental, a quick learning by fire.
Today’s June 8 has sun, moon, Mars and Jupiter in Gemini. Uranus (in Aries) and Pluto (in Capricorn) are in a close square again, one of many times this will occur. The uprisings are not over.
If this were a June 8 fortune cookie it might read: Keep your eyes and ears open as there is much to experience today. Read, watch and listen for news or the news will find you.
I’m puzzled that you don’t blog about Obama’s horoscope, given the five pack of scandals he is dealing with.
Your wish . . .
