. . . definitely in the eye of the beholder.
It’s a habit of mine to think of Taurus as the most stubborn sign of the zodiac as it is the fixed earth sign. However, on the way to the gym today, I began thinking that maybe another fixed sign, Aquarius, is the most stubborn.
According to Webster’s Dictionary, the definition of stubborn is:
“Unreasonably obstinate, obstinately perverse, fixed or set in purpose or opinion, resolute.”
Notice the word “fixed.” In astrology there are four elements and three modes. Four times three makes the twelve signs. The modes are cardinal, mutable and fixed.
The four fixed signs are: Taurus (earth), Leo (fire), Scorpio (water) and Aquarius (air).
Fixed is, as the definition of stubborn suggests, set in purpose. It’s no wonder many world leaders and most American presidents have been born under a fixed sun sign. One needs set purpose to manage the crossfire of life in politics.
All of the fixed signs may at times appear stubborn in their energetic sphere. I think I understand why Aquarius seems to me even more stubborn than Taurus.
Taurus is an earth sign, practical and realistic. Taurus is an even-keeled sign only showing temper when pressed too hard from the outside.
I see Taurus as stubborn with regard to habit. Do not try to make a Taurus go faster or in a different direction. While you can’t make a Taurus change direction rapidly, the Taurus also won’t ask you to change directions either. Taurus may be stubborn with itself, but it won’t be stubborn toward you.
Aquarius is an air sign, intellectual and idealistic. Aquarius, to me, has a vision of “the perfect universe.” I think Aquarius appears to me most stubborn because it wants the ideal of the world to be followed by others. Taurus just does its own thing; Aquarius wants you to do its thing.
What about the other two fixed signs?
Leo to me is more forceful than stubborn. It is fixed fire, enthusiastic and intuitive. Maybe Leo doesn’t appear stubborn because the shining light of its personality is able to energize you enough to follow its lead.
Leo, like Aquarius, is extraverted so it does want others to share the fun. However, Leo is fire whereas Aquarius is air. Convincing others of an intellectual idea (Aquarius) such as buying rice in bulk to save the planet is much more difficult than convincing others of a fun idea (Leo) such as calling in sick and going to the zoo.
Scorpio is the fixed water sign, intense and emotional. This is the one water sign that hides its vulnerability. Cancer and Pisces are more open to their own fragility.
Scorpio is often viewed as controlling. The stubborn in Scorpio is emotional stubbornness. If you hurt me, I will never forget. Scorpio doesn’t always see that others are not conscious of their motives and hurt out of humanness, not maliciousness.
Scorpio is stubborn with regard to how it feels. And because how it feels is everything to a Scorpio, this sign is known to “bite its own tail” or poison itself. Like Taurus, the stubbornness often goes inward, not outward.
My vote for most stubborn, at this moment, is Aquarius.

Well im a Taurus and im way more stubborn than everyone in my school so dont try to say that your more stubborn than a taurus we are born to be stubborn dont test us
I agree that most of all sign seem stubborn especially Aquarius like you mention , Scorpio dosent like to be controlled or told what to do. Since my sun sign is Virgo being drowned by my 7 scorpio in my birth (natal) chart ,I only get stubborn when people are trying to force me to do something ,Im surrounded by Sun Aquarius ,Scorpio ,Leos , Capricorn along with the moons signs … who I find stubborn are Geminis in general no matter moon sign sun sign or mars sign they think their smart … while aquarius moon try to make it known that they are , I belive they are smarter than gemini who cant study one subject for two long , Aquarius have the ability to graduate early ,but can be badly influenced by friends that can lead them from sucess .The Suns aquarius rebellious / ambitous to earn money for their brand new car. Leo moons , suns and mars just dont want to be humiliated in front of their friends (kinda fake like Gemini moons) but are very senestive when it comes to their ego and coincidence and can lead to their depression. Aries moon ,sun ( havent meet a mars aries they may behave the same)like to take charge ,make fast decisons and don’t think twice it hard to get them from making such rass decisons , Capricorn moons suns and mars are just plain bossy and can be mean and has very dark statement that can be seen as humor for some , try bossing them around or let them try to boss each other its a no win situation a fight may break out , Sagittarius moon ,Sun and Mars are stubborn when it comes to stopping their fun life rather partying ,video games ,sports wacthing or being an athlete… I only know Mars Taurus are stubborn about food ,and what they like to do .. try to do anything that they are not used to or taking their food (they can be sharing but leaving them on an empty stomach can be dangerous)
All scorpio planets like the suns moon,mars and more like to control their situations, some like to control other people situations also only thoses that are close to them.. .. Also evil scorpio tips to aggravate other scorpios … click the off button on their desire object ,works for Aquarius technology lovers and Capricorn bossy people also .. they will get upset , Scorpio will wait for revenge and will get you back , Aquarius do nothing but tell you to stop , Capricorn like to hit you and will get you back when they feel like it . Dont try This on SAGITTARIUS they assume its a game and will join in.. an object may end up broken.

Aquarius is a fixed sign. Fixed are strong & resiliant so stubbornness comes with the territory. Additionally, Aquarius comes with a rebellious stance.
I’m a taurus but as calculations showed I’m 52% fire sign (ascendant sag,venus,mercury,saturn aries)..I can say I’m hella freaking stubborn but not unreasonably..I think XD oh and also my moon is scorpio..though I don’t think I have any traits of that sign..scorpios are way too competitive ..and that thing about anger isn’t true..bcuz I get angry in a split second ..I’m very bad tempered but my anger goes in minutes ..sometimes it’s so annoying XD
Aquarius is stubborn in the sense of keeping it 100 percent real/authentic with itself first and foremost. With Scorpio being the one exception, most signs are unwilling to even acknowledge the ugliness of human nature let alone their own. Aquarius knows that humans are naturally selfish and contradictory. Add to that a inclination to be very observant, Aquarius just knows things about people that if presented before a judge, would indict humanity as a whole. Rather than wallowing in the darkness like Scorpio, Aquarius simply moves about with a natural yet invisible armour composed of the truth.
Afterall it was from an Aquarius that we discovered the idea of survival of the fittest, which has now been refined to the concept of the selfish gene. Aquarius’ loyalty is to the spiritual dimension, not the material social hierarchies of this world. This is what makes Aquarius’ mind impervious to relativistic “truths”. Aquarius sees the biggest picture.
Aquarius is the most stubborn more out of spike than out of need and understanding. I’m a Taurus and I know my stubbornness is out of need and understanding. We like to know what we are getting into before we take that next step. But my Aquarius Aunt would do things that I told her she shouldn’t do. So in order to adjust to this, I just don’t do anything. That is my way of keeping from getting upset. Also when I don’t do nothing, she complaints. But if she would have done what I told her, everything would have worked out nicely. The interesting part about this is I’m not really hurt by what she doesn’t do, because she has to work around me. To be honest, I don’t like it, because she just makes me feel too comfortable to do things around me. And being too comfortable is never a good thing for a Taurus. I don’t UNDERSTAND Aquarius and the moves they make is very scary and unrealistic to me. We do agree on some things. But she’s negative about everything! There is not a positive thing that comes out of this woman’s mouth, even though I point things out. I don’t think this is a full Aquarius trait.
My Aunt really liked my sister. My Virgo sister was able to work around her stubbornness by not mentioning certain things. I have spend more time with my Aunt and I’m just being me. I don’t know any other ways. She never saw the UGLY side of my sister, because she knew not to disclose it. Although me and sister was similar, we were different. I did not know my sister like my Aunt, although I understood her more. She was an Earth sign, but she wasn’t a fixed sign and I think that why she was more flexible with my Aunt. But she really didn’t know my sister although they spoke everyday until she past in March 2016. My cousin (my Aquarius Aunt son) was like my brother. We were really close. He was a Capricorn.
I’m a Taurus of May 16th. I’m flexible when I have too. But the most important thing about Tauruses is that we stick to a SYSTEM unlike Aquarius who go with ANYTHING. This was the problem I was having with my Aquarius aunt. Anyway, Aquarius stubbornness is around self, they are not BOSSY people, but their actions can impact you if are not accustom to making a rash decision. Tauruses aren’t a sign that make rash decisions and this was a big problem. So when it came time to do something for her, I would just completely shut down. No arguments, because I don’t feel like I’m being forced into something. They usually do it themselves or find others to do it for them.
I am a Taurus man who is in love with an Aquarius woman. And from personal experience, I would say that Aquarius is more stubborn in general, because yes, they want you to do what they want, but getting between a Taurus and what they like is asking for trouble. You should definitely stop immediately unless you are ready to run for your life. It’s like the saying goes,”When you mess with the bull, you get the horns.”
Kal. Good Luck. You would have more problems with Aquarius change of and unusual decisions at the split of the moment than their stubbornness. Their stubbornness is around self, not other people, because they are the sign of INDEPENDANCE. Taurus on the other hand is about as practical as one can get and the sign of SECURITY. We operate with a system that is always being planned in our mind. A system really doesn’t exist with Aquarius, because they don’t like SYSTEMS. But a Taurus could not survive without a SYSTEM, because it provides the SECURITY that we count on.
Funny thing is I never put much or maybe even any faith in astrology, so while the Taurus in me might be comfortable with security and rigidity, deep down I’m actually much more chaotic and free-spirited than an Aquarius could ever hope to be, and I know because that guy has been in charge enough times himself. And while I like the idea of a system to support me, I’m unpredictable to the point that I much prefer an uncertain freedom if it means I get to decide what I want to do with myself and my life instead of the star sign of my birth. “I have no idea what I’m going to do tomorrow.” “How exciting.” Lastly, beyond either, I crave the idea of living a life of honor not unlike the olden days. No Aquarius could ever hope to be more problematic and rebellious than I am (seeing as how often I defy my own family, friends, and even certain figures of authority) and certainly not stubborner, because my stubbornness actually encompasses almost everything, which certainly includes myself AND other people. So you should feel a great swell of pity instead for the poor soul who comes to me trying to argue otherwise, because the angriest zodiac is a flickering candle compared to me.
My Husband is Taurus and I, a Leo. We have been married 8 years and as of late, I began to wonder..which sign is more stubborn? which lead me to Google this…I do have a better understanding of the ‘types of stubbornness’.
