The outer planets are the planets past Saturn – Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. These planets are far and revolve around the sun in 80- to 200-plus year increments so they represent generational energies.
These planets are “the times” we live in. The New York Times stories of Saturday, May 12 influenced this blog.
URANUS IN ARIES
Uranus began its transit of Aries in March 2011. Uranus brings sudden events from learning your spouse is cheating to enlightenment itself.
Aries is the first sign of zodiac, a fire sign, interested in self-assertion.
Uranus in Aries has brought uprisings and sudden changes in political party systems.
Alexis Tsipras, Greece
In Greece, Alexis Tsipras of the Syzria Party, or “Radical Left” according to the New York Times, won a majority in Greece’s recent elections.
Tsipras is sun in Leo and moon in Scorpio or Sagittarius. The intense charisma he seems to be known for corresponds a little more to Scorpio.
Leo and Scorpio are both highly charismatic and sexy, especially if you like big brown eyes . . .
Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn are creating a nasty T-square with Tsipras’ natal Venus/ Saturn/ Mercury in Cancer. If Tsipras has a family life, it will be shaken up very soon. I’m guessing that Tsipras’ new role will threaten the security of his family.
Francois Hollande, France
France has just elected a Socialist President, Francois Hollande. Hollande has sun in Leo and moon most likely in Capricorn.
Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn create a grand square with Hollande’s Venus and Neptune in Libra and Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer. Some of those squares are wide right now. Venus is the planet most affected as Uranus and Pluto are in the early degrees of their transits.
Hollande’s love life will most likely go through radical, sudden changes, much like his rise to the top. Like Tsipras, some family life will be sacrificed during his new role.
Sergei Udaltsov, Russia
Sergei Udaltsov, I read yesterday in the New York Times, is a Russian protest leader.
Udaltsov has sun in Aquarius, the very sign of rebellion, and moon in Aquarius or Capricorn. Mars and Mercury are also in Aquarius.
Whether the moon is in Capricorn or Aquarius, the personality is the same – my way or the highway.
While I love a revolutionary, this is the type of personality that is so rigid it may inadvertently become its opposite. For example, if you force freedom on someone, are they free?
Think Ayn Rand, another Russian who had sun in Aquarius and moon in Capricorn.
Udaltsov has Venus in Aries and Pluto opposite in Libra. The current transits of Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn are creating a T-square.
Venus, again. It appears our new revolutionaries will be giving up partnership, love and family life for the sake of the revolution.
Udaltsov may not mind as Aquarius/Capricorn is more interested in social change than personal relationship.
NEPTUNE IN PISCES
Neptune just entered Pisces in April 2011. Pisces is ruled by Neptune so Neptune is floating in the warm waters of its natural home.
I expect heightened spirituality during this transit, but don’t see it in the news. Pisces brings undefined spirituality and sacrifice and also a bit of illusion as we follow idiots disguised as gurus.
Neptune also rules film and image. While Neptune doesn’t rule the news, I think the current story about Murdoch papers has elements of Neptune – we don’t know what’s real. The images created through the news appear to be distortions, some deliberate, some inadvertent.
Rebekah Brooks
Rebekah Brooks, former editor of Murdoch newspapers, is currently in court describing the newspaper’s relationship with politicians.
With sun, moon, Mars and Mercury in Gemini, it’s no wonder that Brooks is always in the news, whether her personal self or her nose.
Gemini is about communication and stimulation and is journalism itself. Gemini’s opposite sign, Sagittarius, tries to make meaning. Gemini simply revels in the facts and details. It’s a smart sign that can see the patterns but mostly loves the stimulation as boredom is the enemy.
Brooks also has Uranus and Pluto in Virgo, squaring all those planets in Gemini.
Neptune in Pisces creates a T-square of this mutable energy. Gemini and Virgo are detail, fact and gossip. Pisces is meaning, spiritual meaning.
Pisces squaring most of Brook’s chart is forcing her, in its confusing Neptunian way, to look at the bigger picture. The bigger picture may also mean that one discovers one is a sacrificial goat (Pisces is about sacrifice).
I’m guessing Brooks really is the Gemini/Virgo who enjoys talking and gossip is talking. While Gemini is known for duplicity, it’s really not malicious. If one can be so many things, why choose one thing to be?
Neptune in Pisces will show Brooks that while gossip can be fun, it can also be used to manipulate. She may have been led by her nosey nose into a room filled with deliberately misleading facts disguised as fun gossip.
PLUTO IN CAPRICORN
Pluto in Capricorn is destroying our structures. Houses, bridges, buildings, universities, churches, government and banks are all structures that maintain our society.
If we didn’t live in houses, for example, what would our society look like?
JP Morgan Chase
The most recent Pluto through Capricorn destruction appears to be occurring in JP Morgan Chase’s Investment group.
The current estimated loss is $2 billion. While $2 billion is a number I will never see in my checkbook, for Chase, this may be consumable.
We’ll see in the next few weeks what this means for Chase. I’m guessing that the bank will be restructured.
The Economy
Like everyone, I’d like to see positive economic news. The astrologer in me knows that Pluto takes 20 or more years to make its changes.
As a person and astrologer, I believe it’s time to revisit how we live economically. We want the bad economic news to go away, but what we really need to do is reinvent the future, not long for the past.
In 20 years when Pluto enters Aquarius, I’m guessing that economic structures will be more equitable. The Uranus in Aries uprisings are bringing leaders using that early 20th century word – socialism.
I’m not suggesting we need socialism, but am suggesting that economic disparity will continue to create Uranus in Aries uprisings, at least for the next seven years.
When Uranus enters Taurus in seven years, property laws will then undergo changes, most likely to support whatever Pluto in Capricorn changes are occurring.
