Ohio Political Fight Club: House District 15

This round of Ohio Political Fight Club pits Steve Stivers (Republican) against Pat Lang (Democrat) in Ohio’s House District 15. Stivers name is quite familiar to me as he has hosted numerous job fairs in the state. Running on that alone should keep this man in his house seat.

Steve Stivers

Stivers has sun in Aries and moon in Sagittarius or Capricorn. Moon in Sagittarius versus moon in Capricorn is more than night and day – it’s about complete lack of control (Sagittarius) or total emotion-annihilating control (Capricorn).

Which is it?

I’d have to ask someone who knows him which it is. Is he a military task master or an out of control fun-loving man who can’t give up that one indulgent habit?

If moon is in Capricorn, there’s an earth trine (not by exact degree though) in the chart showing a grounded person with spunk (sun in Aries).

Stivers focus on job fairs might be more than response to economic times – he might be an earth trine who thinks of little besides work.

Stivers also has some water in the chart (Neptune in Scorpio, Saturn in Pisces and Venus in Pisces) indicating a feeling nature even if moon in Capricorn may suggest otherwise.

What Stivers lacks is air, the ability to socialize with ease and relate on an intellectual plane. Stivers is a man of action, a good thing, but he may not be able to communicate well why he does what he does. His response to your questions might simply be, “Wait and see then you’ll understand.”

Uranus in Aries is conjunct his sun providing energy. If the moon is in Capricorn, Pluto is hovering and creating great tension and frustration because Aries/Capricorn is intensely impatient and the people in the office just aren’t fast or responsive enough.

Neptune transiting Pisces will help Stivers relax a bit as he realizes (none too soon) that he doesn’t have to save the entire world.

Whew! That’s a relief but what to do now? Aries and Capricorn can’t rest, so what’s the next mission?

Pat Lang

Lang has sun in Libra and moon probably in Aquarius. Where Stivers has no air in the chart, Lang is filled with it.

Venus and Pluto are in Libra too so Lang loves a relationship and especially one where he is in control. He wants to be in control because if you wander off, he feels insecure.

Saturn in Leo is trine sun in Libra indicating a serious commitment to romance and pleasure but a lack of true confidence. The romantic and persuasive realm is where Lang feels most comfortable.

Lang will enjoy the socializing part of running for office but may not know what to do if he were to actually win the seat. Day-to-day tasks take more than charm to manage.

Moon in Aquarius has fixed opinions about an ideal society. What lacks in Lang’s chart is earth. There’s no ability to ground ideas in reality although there is a great deal of organizational ability.

Libra is pushy as it’s a cardinal sign. So expect lots of “We should do it this way.” To stop the argument I have some advice – just say you agree and the idea can start now.

You have plenty of time to work on prevention should Lang have enough focus to implement free landscaping for all homeowners, free legal advice for everyone, and life sentences for people who litter.

Mercury in Scorpio represents Lang’s detective mind, when he’s not distracted by charming people. Although there’s some insight into others’ motivations, air still has a certain naiveté.

Jupiter and Mars in Cancer represent love of family and small groups of close friends (The Big Chill).

Uranus transiting Aries will oppose the Libra energy and square the Cancer energy causing disruption from “others” who just won’t calm down, even after Lang has explained all of his actions in detail.

Pluto is transiting Capricorn and opposite that Jupiter in Cancer. Family life will change structure for Lang. Some members of the family may separate from the unit.

Lack of Air meets Lack of Earth

Stivers lacks air (social ability) and Lang lacks earth (practicality).

In the age of visual image, sociability (and charisma) can often trump practicality. However, as Pluto transits Capricorn razing our economic structures, earth may trump air this time.

The other interesting thing about earth is that it doesn’t go away. It’s under you at all times. Air, water and fire, on the other hand, come and go.
