The Astrological Reality of Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian was in the news again. Who the heck is this woman? I keep asking and I keep forgetting the answer.

Wikipedia calls her a “businesswoman, socialite, television personality, model, and actress.”

Kardashian has done something I haven’t heard mentioned since the 1980’s – she’s created her own reality. Creating a reality show clearly brings the actual reality with it.

Libra and Pisces

Kardashian has sun in Libra and moon in Pisces (according to Astrotheme). Just yesterday I looked at a chart with the exact same sun and moon placement – the chart of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Libra is the sign of partnership. Pisces is the sign of emotional merging. Combined is a person who likes to be with others, all the time. This is someone who does not want to sit at the bar alone waiting for you to arrive. Chances are she will be late anyway as Libra spends a lot of time on appearance.

All animals have defense mechanisms, as do people. Not all defenses are ugly and smelly, like the scent of a skunk. For Libra and Pisces, defenses take the form of charming, maneuvering and subtly moving events in a certain direction. Neither sign is openly confrontational.

Libra and Pisces on combination may fear being the outcast and fear discord. Libra just doesn’t like when things are ugly and Pisces picks up everything from the environment and internalizes it.

I suspect, like Berlusconi, Kardashian’s emotions change quickly, can be manipulative but also can be manipulated by others.

Both Libra and Pisces are artistic, poetic and dreamy. Those around Kardashian must take care of the bills, getting the walls re-painted and checking on that leak in the roof. She may notice these things, but definitely is not interested in putting on some work gloves and doing home repairs. She’d much prefer to be socializing amongst and small and carefully-chosen group of beautiful friends, drinking wine and sharing in each other’s artistic creations.

Pluto Influence

Kardashian’s Libra sun is conjunct Pluto. Saturn is also in Libra, but not in conjunction. This adds intensity and compulsion to the Libra energy. Libra likes a partner. Libra with Pluto in tow MUST have a partner at all times. And that partner must be partner-like in the way Kardashian wants. And what she wants goes from yin to yang in the blink of an eye.

Pluto on the sun also suggests issues with authority and specifically the father. Kardashian probably grew up with a very controlling father and is probably seeking a controlling mate to guide her in life.

Boundaries

Kardashian definitely has what are called “boundary issues.” Pluto on the sun suggests she’s been psychically invaded and may do the same to others through lack of understanding. Pisces moon suggests she picks up every emotion from the environment and may have trouble knowing what is hers and what is not.

Kardashian also has a T-square with moon (in Pisces), Jupiter (in Virgo) and Neptune (in Sagittarius). When emotional pressure and anxiety are too great, Kardashian may resort to escape in the form of travel, daydream or drugs.

Kardashian is a person who may one day question her own identity. Like a 1950’s housewife who one day realizes that she has sacrificed herself for others, Kardashian may wonder what this period of “reality TV” was really about.

With Saturn transiting her Pluto and sun, that time may be now.

Kardashian may need to separate out of her personality those elements that are truly not hers but that she may have gotten from her father. She’s probably fallen repeatedly into relationships where someone else tells her what to do. She’s not used to deciding for herself although she may be constantly reacting to the controlling people around her. Taking decisive action and simply reacting to external stimulus are two different things. Picking a controlling partner so that you can do the opposite of everything they say is also not decisive action.

What’s the reality?

Kardashian is portraying a reality. But who’s reality is it, I wonder? Is it what she really wants, or what those around her want?

Whether on TV or not, Libra and Pisces often must ask themselves this question.

Silvio Berlusconi is Italy

Silvio Berlusconi, Prime Minister of Italy, is receiving pressure to step down. Berlusconi has been in power for 18 years and, according to the Wikipedia entry, has dealt with allegations of false testimony, bribery, Mafia connections, media control, economic conflicts of interest and sex with minors.

Sounds like a pope.

Italy is romanticized in so many movies you sometimes forget it’s the land of the Roman Empire, a religion that has been involved in politics for centuries and extensive organized crime. The history of Italy and its warring city-states is anything but romantic.

Berlusconi is Italy

Berlusconi, however, is a romantic. He has sun in Libra and moon in Pisces. This is not a person I would have put at the top of the political food chain. I’d have assumed, if I’d looked at the horoscope without knowing him, that he would be an artist or some other profession that lived on ideals and poetry and the couches of friends.

He’s not tough. Berlusconi’s ability to navigate the rough land of Italy is based on his ability to do Libra things (charm, avoid, rationalize, party with) and Pisces things (avoid, manipulate, charm, mesmerize, soothe, empathize with, have psychic insight into).

Pisces is an extremely emotional sign that picks up the vibes in any environment. Neither Pisces nor Libra has strong boundaries. This combination of Libra/Pisces suggests that Berlusconi is mirroring and absorbing what’s around him. If he’s bad, the environment is bad. If he is good, the environment is good.

Saturn conjunct moon in Pisces suggests that Berlusconi had a mother who did not provide Berlusconi the emotional support he needed and/or cut Berlusconi off from his own emotions in some way. Neptune opposing the Saturn/moon conjunction suggests Berlusconi suffers, at times, sadness and depression.

Transits

Saturn has finished passing over Berlusconi’s sun. You’d think the contraction of his relationships would have culminated by now.

Saturn will move onto his Venus in Scorpio next summer. If he wants to enjoy the girls, he’d better do it soon. This doesn’t bode well for the sex life.

Neptune is in Pisces but will not transit Berlusconi’s moon for about six more years. He’d been 81 at that time. Maybe in his 80s he will transmute that Piscean skill at manipulation (of the political environment) into Piscean spirituality.

Pluto transiting Capricorn is squaring Berlusconi’s Libra sun. Authority and rules are causing friction in his life, harming his Libra ability to enjoy himself.

Pluto trines Berlusconi’s natal Mars in Virgo, so maybe he will weather this storm. He can use his Virgo love of details to crush all the arguments of his opponents.

Mars in Virgo is interested in work and health. With that Pisces energy in his chart, I’m guessing he’s a hypochondriac, always worried about germs and dirt.

Why don’t politicians ever want to retire?

When I look at aging politicians, I always wonder why they can’t retire. Most of us want to and those that can, don’t. Crazy world.

While there is a different reason for every politician, I would guess Berlusconi stays in power for the Piscean need for love and attention and the Venus in Scorpio need for good sex. His chart suggests one who loves sensual pleasures, socializing and parties.

I don’t see why Berlusconi can’t get these things without being Prime Minister.

Italy will be the same without him.

Where’s Hillary?

Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, hasn’t been in the news much lately.

I missed her last big news story where she apparently is in a photo taken while she and others watched Osama bin Laden being murdered. Clinton has hand to mouth with a shocked expression on her face. Her ostensible reason is that she was holding back a nasty cough.

Or maybe watching a man die is shocking. If that’s what the photograph is showing, a group watching Osama bin Laden being murdered, then shock seems in order. What’s shocking, then, are the expressions on the other, male, faces.

A Watery Person

Clinton is a Scorpio, a fixed water sign, with moon in Pisces, a mutable water sign. Whether or not she was gaping in terror at a man being killed, Clinton is an emotional being.

Clinton also has air (Uranus in Gemini and Neptune in Libra) and fire (Mars, Pluto and Saturn in Leo and Jupiter in Sagittarius) in her horoscope.

What Clinton lacks is earth.

The life Clinton is currently leading, flying all over the world without roots, probably suits her well. She doesn’t really want to stay home and garden.

Clinton has six of the ten planets in fixed signs indicating a strong, determined and stubborn personality. The Mars/Pluto/Saturn conjunction in Leo suggests a nasty fighter. Topped with vengeful Scorpio and insightful Pisces, this woman can see the threads that bind you and cut them apart when necessary.

Transits

Saturn will be transiting Clinton’s sun in December 2012. Does that date ring a bell? By then, the next presidential election will be over. Astrotheme puts Clinton’s sun in the 5th house of creativity. In December 2012, she may find a contraction of that creativity.

Astrotheme’s chart would put the transiting Pluto in the 7th house, transiting Uranus in the 10th and transiting Saturn in the 4th (which form a T-square).

Since I know what she does for a living and how it’s dependent on the election, I suspect her public role may change – voluntarily or involuntarily.

There also seem to be relationship changes in store which affect family life. Those changes will affect her sense of self (Saturn on sun).

Age 65

Next year Hillary will be 65. Maybe she will retire, as that used to be the age when the common folks could begin to relax, collect some Social Security and dip into those bulging 401Ks. Oh, the nostalgia of it!

Whatever occurs in December 2012 Clinton may enjoy in the long-term. Neptune will be transiting that Pisces moon in several years. Possibly the end of 2012 will be the beginning of something new.

Sarkozy and Merkel – the Astrology Behind the Relationship

Nicolas Sarkozy, President of France, and Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, have been spending a lot of time together recently, tête-à-tête.

It’s an astrological match made in heaven. I do not know how traditional matchmakers (in countries that use horoscopes) decide compatibility. There’s what you want and what you need. Matchmakers, I assume, support the gender roles that society strives to maintain.

For example, if you are a fire sign, maybe you want another passionate drama-king/queen for a partner. But is that good? Will too much fire explode like Mentos in Pepsi?

Sarkozy and Merkel have very different personalities but lots of nice aspects. They are born six months apart which means the outer planets are in similar positions. Astrologically that means they share the same “times” and do not have generation gaps.

In general, Sarkozy is an extroverted show off type, who exhibits but essentially remains detached. Merkel is a more emotional, comforting and caring individual who is able to restrain her sentimentality.

Energizing Relationship

Sarkozy, according to Astrotheme, has moon in Aries. His sun is in Aquarius. Merkel is a Cancer sun with moon in Aquarius. In a traditional view of a traditional marriage, the woman’s moon on the man’s sun is a good sign of compatibility.

Merkel’s Mars in Sagittarius conjuncts Sarkozy’s Venus in Sagittarius. She finds him attractive, fun and approachable. He finds her energizing, maybe because of her feelings toward him.

Sarkozy’s Jupiter is conjunct Merkel’s sun. Merkel find Sarkozy accepting of her emotional nature and comforting toward her emotions.

Sarkozy and Merkel simply are comfortable with each other and enjoy each other’s company. After the public life of each is over, they will probably meet on holidays for a drink in the sun.

Emotional Differences

Merkle is much more emotional than Sarkozy, having Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus and the sun in Cancer. However, this nature is offset by her moon in the rational air sign of Aquarius. Merkel has emotional reactions galore, but is able to react with detachment and composure (quite a feat).

Sarkozy has a rational demeanor (sun in Aquarius) but has aggressive, angry reactive nature from the moon in Aries. He’s one to blow off the handle if, say, the door handle doesn’t turn properly.

Sarkozy’s aggressive Aries moon is distasteful to a Cancer personality as Cancer wants everyone to get along. Cancer is like a border collie nosing the group into a unit. Sarkozy is independent and Merkle is a collaborator.

Communication Style Differences

Merkel with Mercury in Cancer is an emotional, relating communicator. Sarkozy has Mercury in Aquarius opposite Pluto in Leo square Saturn in Scorpio which means that he can be both unusual in his communication style and by turns combative and controlling in speech.

Sarkozy should let Merkel do the talking.

Obama Visit

Barack Obama is visiting Europe this week for the Group of 20 Summit in Cannes and will be spending some time with both Sarkozy and Merkel.

Obama’s sun is opposite Sarkozy’s sun while Obama’s Saturn opposite Merkle’s sun. Obama’s moon in Gemini makes little aspect to either Sarkozy’s or Merkel’s charts.

These oppositions suggest that both Sarkozy and Merkel will find Obama difficult to deal with. He will be on the other side of the fence in terms of personality, if not politics.

Obama’s Jupiter in Aquarius is a wide aspect to both Sarkozy’s sun and Merkel’s moon. Obama may talk to both leaders in the idealistic, abstract terms that they both admire. However, in action, Obama will feel like an opposite and external challenge to both leaders.

Obama’s Pluto is conjunct Merkel’s Venus (in Virgo). Obama’s Mars is in Virgo as well. Obama will be quite aggressive with Merkel, especially in terms of the details. My mental image is of two people working on a crossword together. She’s having fun, but for him it becomes a compulsion. He’s got to figure out every last word without peeking at the answers.

The Sign of the Zodiac Most Likely to Like Its Own Sign of the Zodiac is . . .

Back in the 1960s and 1970s when, for a short period of time, reverence of business was partially eclipsed by a drug-fueled quest for spirituality, talk of astrology did not raise as many eyebrows as it does today.

Way, way, back then, you might even see a velvet poster on a bedroom wall indicating the inhabitant’s sign of the zodiac.

Times have changed.

Even as a young one, I noticed astrology. From my many years of observation, there are two indicators that an individual both knows his/her sign of the zodiac and relates to it in a positive way:

  1. Astrology branded items such as posters and key chains
  2. Tattoos

The Two Signs Most Likely to Like Their Sign

With these two indicators in mind, there are two signs who both know their sign of the zodiac and like it:

  1. Leo
  2. Scorpio

You’ve seen a Scorpio/scorpion tattoo, right? A lion on a T-shirt?

Have you ever seen a tattoo or keychain of these signs of the zodiac?

  • Ram
  • Bull
  • Twins
  • Mother
  • Virgin
  • Scales
  • Archer
  • Goat
  • Water bearer
  • Fishes swimming in opposite directions

Chicken and Egg Question

This begs the chicken and egg question. Do Leo (the Lion) and Scorpio (the Scorpion) relate to their signs because those signs are cool? Or do they relate to their signs because they are Leos (ego) and Scorpios (even more ego)?

Which comes first?

If Capricorn the Goat, for example, were Capricorn the King (like Elvis Presley and Richard Nixon), would they too have embraced astrology? Maybe even gotten a tattoo or at least a bumper sticker?

Don’t let it keep you up at night

Instead of tossing and turning with this question, go ahead and ask people their signs. See what you find.

Nine Career Options for Herman Cain

Herman Cain, Republican Presidential Candidate contender, is leading in the polls. Unfortunately, a story has surfaced about Cain settling some sort of sexual harassment suit 12 years ago.

Interesting timing.

This is the first time in many years I’ve had the time to keep up with the details of a political campaign. It’s easy to see why politicians complain of conspiracy and smear tactics.

It’s All About Romney

After the October 11 debate, The New York Times headlined their story “Romney Looks Past Rivals as Debate Focuses on Economy.” The Washington Post story was titled “Mitt Romney solidifies his front-runner status in Republican debate.”

News coverage pointed toward Mitt Romney. The polls, however, pointed toward Herman Cain.

At that time and now, I feel that the powers that be in the Republican Party want Mitt Romney. Watching the debates, my guess is that they want Mitt Romney as President and Michele Bachmann as Vice President. Bachmann has been awful nice to Romney in the last two debates.

Although he’s currently winning in this thing we call a primary, Cain is clearly not meant to win by whomever or whatever really determines the candidates.

If this primary were truly a mano a mano competition (instead of a dinero a dinero competition), Cain, with a grand fire trine in his horoscope, could boil the watery Romney in barbeque sauce, shred him like pork and eat him between a sesame seed bun. The mutable sign-filled Rick Perry could easily be shredded into cole slaw and put on top.

Unfortunately, one man full of fire can’t burn through an entire foundation of politics. I suspect Cain will go down fighting. But I suspect he will go down.

Nine Career Options for Herman Cain

When Cain gracefully or not so gracefully accepts that Romney is the chosen one, here are nine careers that might suit his personality as he moves on.

  1. Author. Banking on his 9-9-9 tax plan, Cain could publish a series of books with the magical number “9” such as “9 Traits of a Successful CEO” or “9 Tips for
    Running for President.”
  2. Motivational speaker. Cain is a fiery orator. He’s got the energy and passion of a motivational speaker, including of the religious sort.
  3. Boxer. Cain may be too old to start on this career path, but fire likes to fight.
  4. Traveling minstrel. Cain’s Sagittarian sun, Mercury and Venus likes to move around. Mars in Leo loves to tell stories.
  5. Adventure tour guide. Fire is adventuresome. Taking responsibility for others’ welfare in dangerous settings will appeal to this man.
  6. Firefighter. Hey, with so much fire, why not go to the fire?
  7. Head of a nation other than the US. Maybe the US can still take down Cuba and elect a governor of the island.
  8. Sports team owner. Fire loves sports and owning a team fits with Cain’s executive abilities.
  9. Military commander. It may be too late for this career, but fire and executive
ability make fine officers (and gentlemen).

Diner Food Personality Profiling by Ohio Astrology

If you are raised in the West, you are taught to view the ancient knowledge of astrology as a mere superstition. Ironically, ancient astrological knowledge is re-packaged into modern personality profiling (i.e. Myers Briggs and True Colors) and sold to corporate executives for lots of money.

Of course, I’m against this. Why should businesses spend thousands of dollars on knowledge that has been around for eons? That money can be spent more effectively on product development, management training and long-term goal setting.

I know, I know, personality profiling creates jobs. I, too, want job creation, but not the prostitution of ancient knowledge for the betterment of a precious few management consultants.

Ohio Astrology would like to contribute its share during this Great Depression, I mean, Recession, and offer companies a free, downloadable personality profiling segmentation.

There are two benefits to using the Ohio Astrology Diner Food Personality Profile Segmentation:

  1. It is free
  2. It is easy to understand

Think of all the food that exists in the workplace (a relief of boredom, I believe). Food and corporate life go together like peanut butter and jelly. Your employees will embrace this segmentation much more than they will something with an obscure name like “Myers Briggs” and pretty soon they will all get along, which is the goal, right?

The Ohio Astrology Diner Food Personality Profile

The assessment is simple. Pick your soup and pick your entree.

Activity 1: Make all of the food listed, have employees take the test, then have employees eat together.

Activity 2: Have employees take the profile then make the food for future potluck.

Soup

A) Vegetable

B) Bean soup

C) Soup of the day (you don’t know what it is)

Entrees

1) Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and vegetable

2) BBQ chicken or ribs and two sides (your choice)

3) Fish of the day, rice and steamed vegetable

4) Blue plate special (you don’t know what it is)

Segmentation

A1 – You are definitely a picky eater. When in doubt, go to a place of solace and let go of your complaints. Best profession is dietician.

A2 – You are optimistic and like to travel. When in doubt, bring your choices in line with your beliefs. Best profession is teacher.

A3 – You are the most sensitive of the diner food choices. When in doubt, seek advice. Best profession is sailor.

A4 – You are unknown to yourself and others. When in doubt, meditate. Best professional is writer.

B1 – You are the true salt of the earth. When in doubt, build something. Best profession is carpenter.

B2 – You must always be the center of attention. When in doubt, move onto something new. Best profession is actor.

B3 – You are emotionally intense, but hide it. When it doubt, learn to let go. Best profession is detective.

B4 – You are the rebel of the group. When in doubt, think about your ideals and long-term goals. Best profession is director of a community organization.

C1 – You are bossy and impatient. When in doubt, have a beer and relax. Best profession is lawyer.

C2 – You are head strong and impulsive. When in doubt, make a list of pros and cons. Best profession is emergency medical squad.

C3 – You are a nurturing soul. When in doubt, seek the advice of a family member. Best profession is office manager.

C4 – You are the greatest diner food risk takers. When in doubt, leap. Best profession is dancer.

The Most Freedom-Loving Sign of the Zodiac is . . .

Most Americans claim to love and seek freedom. But do we really?

Erich Fromm wrote a book titled (in North America), Escape from Freedom. I haven’t read it in years so will borrow blurbs from Wikipedia. Fromm’s premise is that freedom, rather than being truly desired, fills us with emptiness and anxiety so we turn to security in the form of authoritarianism, destructiveness and conformity.

Who really loves to be free?

There are two signs that I believe truly seek freedom, with all its loneliness and anxiety. Those two signs are Sagittarius and Aquarius.

Interestingly enough, Fromm had moon in Sagittarius.

Sagittarian Freedom

Sagittarian freedom is about freedom from physical and emotional restraints. Sagittarius is the archer, a mutable fire sign whose key phrase is “I perceive.” Sagittarius came into his world to roam and find meaning.

Boundaries and restraints (the realm of Saturn and Capricorn) create in Sagittarius the desire to flee, to escape. Sagittarius, lover of freedom, is most likely to “run away” from problems. Some of us hide, some of us deceive, some of us confront, some of us acquiesce. Sagittarius is off in another world.

Do not try to control your Sagittarius. It simply won’t work. The more you tell this sign what to do, the more you will see headstrong and opinionated resistance.

Sagittarius is a fire sign, so enjoys a fight. Aries (cardinal fire) fights about self and Leo (fixed fire) fights for attention. Sagittarius fights for a cause, any cause, as long as it has meaning.

Aquarian Freedom

Aquarius, a fixed air sign, whose key phrase is “I know,” is the sign filled with ideals and mental images of a perfect world. Perfection, to the Aquarius, involves human ideals and human potential. Ayn Rand (Atlas Shrugged) and Sir Thomas More (Utopia) were Aquarians. The both believed in a perfect world created by and for MAN.

Divine perfection and intervention, on the other hand, is in the realm of Neptune and Pisces.

Aquarian freedom involves freedom of thought. Aquarius is the non-conformist of the zodiac and is able to think a path different from the path of the crowd. Just because everyone believes something is not a reason for an Aquarius to jump onto the prevailing-thought bandwagon.

Sometimes Aquarius opposes the crowd just because it has the guts to do so. This is the rebel side of Aquarius. If everyone says left, I say right. When dealing with your Aquarius, do not say something like, “You should trust him, he’s the President.” It will get you nowhere.

Aquarius, the fixed air sign, is able to walk the path of ideas alone. The other two air signs Gemini (mutable air) and Libra (cardinal air) are too concerned with socializing and partnership to take an intellectual stand that might lose them friends and popularity.

Sagittarius & Aquarius in Combination

Woody Allen has sun in Sagittarius and moon in Aquarius. Jennifer Aniston has sun in Aquarius and moon in Sagittarius. Both stars are freedom loving and independent.

This combination of Sagittarius and Aquarius makes for an independent and unusual person. If you have a friend with this combination, do not expect him/her to have a routine schedule. If you wake up one night at 3 a.m. and think how nice it would be to eat some fried chicken right now, this is the friend to call (do not call your earth sign friends) who is willing to comb the city for a 24-hour chicken joint.

What you cannot expect from this combination is extra-durable warmth. This friend understands your pain and will fight for your pain, but doesn’t care for messy tears and sticky faces. In other words, don’t get weepy and self-pitying with this combination. They will listen, but not forever. One day, this friend just won’t be around when you call to complain, for the third year in a row, about your failing relationship.

Woody Allen

Allen, when involved with Mia Farrow, lived in a separate residence. That’s probably a good idea for someone like Allen. His sun, Jupiter and Mercury are in Sagittarius. He was meant to wander without calling home.

Mars in Capricorn and moon in Aquarius are both cold fish. The Mars placement suggests that he is more calculating than he appears. Capricorn gets what it wants and loves to have Mars as a companion to knock other people out of the ring.

Allen has some water in his chart – Pluto in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces – but not in a personal planet. Pluto in Cancer means transforms through home life and Saturn in Pisces means a lack of spiritual connection and empathy with others.

Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, conjuncting Allen’s Sagittarian sun means that he rarely feels the need for self-restraint. Allen seems a waif but if I didn’t know the person behind this chart, I would guess that he loves to eat and drink and would lean toward corpulence.

Jennifer Aniston

Aniston has more water in her chart than Allen with Mars and Neptune in Scorpio. That might seem good, but Scorpio is much too emotionally intense to be saddled with an Aquarius sun and Sagittarius moon.

Most likely for Aniston this involves getting very, very close to others very, very quickly. While Sagittarius loves freedom, it is also open and risk taking. The problem is that the next morning, when the Scorpio has gone underground and the Aquarius wakes up, that Aniston might have a “how do I get rid of this person now?” feeling.

Aniston’s intensity button has only two levels – on or off. Don’t try to set her to, say, a three. It may go something like this – let’s get intense. Wait, I forgot to mention some of the rules. They are unique because I march to the beat of a different drummer. Intensity was fine yesterday, but today I’m in the mood for something light.

Aniston’s Saturn is in Aries suggesting a lack of directness. I’m guessing that she’s a difficult person to understand because she may come on strong, back off, and then have a very unusual explanation as to her behavior.

If you love someone, set them free

Whoever coined this phrase probably had strong Sagittarius or Aquarian energy in the chart (or both).

I agree with Fromm that while we all say we want freedom, most really want comfort and security. Having a truly freedom-loving person in your life means going against your animal nature and throwing them up in the air, like a kite, but not holding onto the string.

If you want to your Sagittarius and Aquarius to stick around in your life, allow them freedom. If you try to glue them into your life, you will find your Sagittarius has run away and your Aquarius is mentally not in the room with you.

Fidel Castro – A Lesson in Staying Power

Today I noticed that the AP wire website has a “Castro” link. Why?

The press is probably waiting for Fidel Castro, monarch of Cuba, to die. They’ve been waiting for 52 years. He’s been in power since January 1, 1959.

You’ve got to admire a guy who has stayed in power on a small island 90 miles from Florida through 11 US presidents. I’m surprised that after all this time that one of the media conglomerates hasn’t approached him to host a political TV show. Imagine Castro commentary on a subject, like, say, the Iraq invasion:

“I remember when John F. Kennedy tried to invade my country . . . “

Astrological Castro

Castro is currently 85 years old. Astrologically, he’s made it to his Neptune opposition (82) and Uranus return (84 years). His Pluto opposition won’t happen until 2015.

Castro has sun in fixed fire Leo moon in cardinal air Libra. His Leo sun is conjunct Neptune but square Saturn. Neptune represents spirituality and mysticism and is linked to imagination and longing to merge with others. Neptune can be charismatic itself or drawn to other charismatic individuals.

Leo is the actor of the zodiac, the grand seeker of attention, center stage.

Moon in Libra is the romantic charmer. Castro certainly worked magic, with the handsome Ernesto Guevara (El Che) in tow, to take political hold of Cuba.

Saturn in Scorpio squares the sun, almost exactly, suggesting a controlling personality. As with other charts of “dictators,” Castro would be controlling at the head of a family, head of a corporation or head of a country. He just managed to make it to power.

Sun (in Leo) and Saturn (in Scorpio) are in fixed signs. Fixed signs are forceful and determined and appear to be necessary if one wants to last in any position of leadership or power. Castro also has Jupiter in Aquarius and Mars in Taurus, meaning he has all four fixed signs in his chart.

Using Astrotheme’s chart, Castro’s Mars in Taurus is in the 11th house, the house of groups, friendships and ideals. Taurus is property so this placement suggests an individual who shares property concerns with others.

Jupiter is currently transiting this Mars placement. It is a good time for Castro (and country, hopefully) to get additional property or make additional money through existing resources. If Cuba isn’t doing well, Castro certainly is.

Saturn has just finished transiting Castro’s moon. That suggests relationship issues and possible loss of a female relative.

Castro has not only survived 52 years of politics, he’s also survived transits that create life havoc for many of us.

Let’s see if Castro survives that Pluto opposition to his natal Pluto in 2015. If the Astrotheme chart is accurate, this transit will involve the breakdown of property and institutions that maintain that property. This may be a time when Castro releases property holdings.

Uranus is currently transiting Castro’s 10th house. It has already passed Castro’s natal Uranus in Pisces where Castro had a chance to reinvent himself. In Aries, it suggests energy in the public domain.

Whether good or bad, Castro has an impressive feat on his resume – 52 years of defying a very powerful neighbor just 90 miles north, now the sole superpower with enough firepower to send the tiny Cuba undersea with the mythical Atlantis.

It takes guts – and lots of fixed signs – to survive such an existence.

Gift Shopping with Astrology

It’s that time again – the holidays. And in America, holidays means gift shopping. If we didn’t have holidays in this country, we might have no economy at all.

This year, surprise and stun you loved one by finding a gift that resonates with his/her true self. Astrology can help you choose a gift that will provide deep joy.

Print and save this guide. It does not tell you specifically what to buy, but provides the underlying essence of the gift that will hit the spot with your loved one.

Ohio Astrology assumes no responsibility if the gift you choose does not impress and delight. If your added effort to bring joy to your loved ones is not successful, remember that it is truly the thought that counts when giving gifts.

The guide is based on signs of the zodiac. Remember, we have ten “planets” in our charts. The sun and moon are most important. Ohio Astrology, as a gift to the reader, is willing to look up moon signs to help in the gift-selection process.

SHOPPING BY SIGN

ARIES is a cardinal fire sign known by the key phrase, “I am.” Aries is an early-adopter, a sign that wants new and improved products. The gift must create excitement. If your Aries likes to cook, buy the newest gizmo that both slices cheese and blends soup. Does your Aries like to bike? Buy the newest in biking clothes with fancy pockets for keys and camel back water containers. Whatever the interest of your Aries, make sure the gift is improved upon what they already have.

TAURUS is a fixed earth sign known by the key phrase “I have.” Like all earth signs, practical items are acceptable. As Taurus likes to accumulate, additions to an existing collection are a hit. If your Taurus doesn’t have a collection, you might consider purchasing the first part of a collection; this will save you effort for many, many years. Taurus is a solid sign and likes solid, well-made products. Choose a well-made product over a cheap replica.

GEMINI is a mutable air sign known by the key phrase “I think.” Gemini is the most inquisitive of the signs, the quintessential journalist. Your gift must inspire thinking and wonder. Think Rubik Cube. If your Gemini is interested in reading, a book on a new or controversial subject will work well. Is your Gemini into technology? Pick something that involves solving a puzzle or problem or that has all kinds of adjustments. Make the gift mentally stimulating.

CANCER is a cardinal water sign known by the key phrase “I feel.” The person who said about gifts that “it’s the thought that counts” was definitely a water sign and probably a Cancer. You’d better listen to your Cancer’s needs before buying a gift. If must involve 1) something you heard he/she needed and 2) a response to that need. Practical or fluff doesn’t matter. If your Cancer says her feet hurt, go buy a foot massager and peppermint oil. Did your Cancer say he feels you abandon him for work? Buy a romantic movie package that includes tickets, popcorn and two drinks.

LEO is a fixed fire sign known by the key phrase “I will.” Your Leo loves to be the center of attention. Buy him/her something that makes him/her look good. If there are three sizes to choose from, buy the biggest. If you have a chance for a gift wrap, take it and make sure it looks good. Make sure the gift is highly expressive, bright and shiny. This is the sign that would most love to receive a singing telegram on Valentine’s Day. Nothing is too embarrassing for this sign, so think big.

VIRGO is a mutable earth sign known by the key phrase “I analyze.” This is the pickiest recipient you can have. Good luck to you. As with Cancer, you must listen carefully to the ramblings of your chit-chatty Virgo. Buy exactly the thing you hear your Virgo talk about and get a gift receipt. Virgos do like health and work-related items. Just make sure that if your Virgo says she takes calcium citrate, do not buy her calcium carbonate. Don’t be dismayed if your Virgo analyzes your gift – that means there is interest. Do be dismayed if the Virgo does not use it.

LIBRA is a cardinal air sign known by the key phrase “I balance.” Libras are a gift givers joy. Libras like gifts in their purest form – beautiful, non-practical, unique items that provide pleasure. Once you know your Libra’s interests, just find something within it that provides pleasure. Do not buy a practical gift. If your gift happens to provide pleasure to both your Libra and yourself, he/she will probably share it with you. Lucky you.

SCORPIO is a fixed water sign known by the key phrase “I create.” As with the other water signs, you’d better pay attention what your Scorpio is saying. He/she is absolutely dropping you hints about what he/she wants. If you don’t think so, then you are not listening. Scorpio is intense, so a gift that expresses the sentiments of your personal relationship is best. This is a sign that would like a memento of your relationship. Make sure the gift is both sincere and elegant.

SAGITTARIUS is a mutable fire sign known by the key phrase “I perceive.” Sagittarius likes to wander, both physically and mentally, so something that aids traveling in the body or mind is recommended. Travel books or actual trips are the biggest hit. Sagittarians have lots of interests so find something that piques those interests from books to actual activities, such as an annual pass to a science museum or zoo.

CAPRICORN is a cardinal earth sign known by the key phrase “I use.” This is a sign that can accept a practical item or an item that enhances status. If you buy your Capricorn this practical item, make sure it is a name brand and not generic. No fakes Rolodexes. Either buy the real thing or buy something cheaper that is still a recognized, solid brand. Gifts that aid your Capricorn in his/her career are also a hit, such as a monogrammed business card case.

AQUARIUS is a fixed air sign known by the key phrase “I know.” Aquarius is the zaniest sign of the zodiac, so be creative with the gift. There is only one criterion to meet – the gift must be unique. It could be anything from a hand-made locally crafted candle to a personally built time machine made of old photographs from your Aquarius’ life. This sign, more than others, can accept something outside of the idea of a “gift.”

PISCES is a mutable water sign known by the key phrase “I believe.” Pisces is a challenge because your watery recipient is very subtle about what he/she wants. As with the other water signs, your gift to Pisces must show care and concern. If all year your Pisces has been saying that she’d love to see the Nutcracker this Christmas and you buy tickets to Nascar (or vice versa), you will not provide joy. As long as your gift shows care, the physical value of the item is of no concern. Your gift must express a spiritual/mystical/emotional sentiment. Pisces wants to feel what you felt in selecting the gift.
