Herman Cain, former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza and Republican Presidential Candidate, is now at the top of the polls after Tuesday’s Republican debate.
I find this pleasing for one reason – news stories after the debates appeared, how shall I say it, biased toward Romney.
Two headlines I saw online were “Romney Looks Past Rivals as Debate Focuses on Economy” (New York Times) and “Mitt Romney solidifies his front-runner status in Republican debate” (Washington Post).
Clearly the actual people watching the debate did not agree. Romney might have “looked past rivals,” but he didn’t actually outperform his rivals according to the folks watching.
The Rise of Herman Cain
Cain, the fire-breathing dragon of a candidate, exhibited what a grand fire trine in one’s chart can do – leap past adversity.
Cain is a Sagittarius sun, moon probably in Aries and Mars in Leo. The current transit of Uranus through Aries adds spark to the fire trine.
From a purely political standpoint, I have trouble understanding why the Republicans want Romney in the White House. My political guess is that he is pliable enough to do the bidding of his backers.
Cain is not a puppet. If his moon is in Pisces, there is some impressionability. However, a Sagittarian sun does not like to follow orders or be told what to do. The opinions Cain speaks are most likely truly his own.
With his natal Saturn in Cancer, Cain does not feel the joys of cooperation. He’s the leader and may have trouble accepting that coooperating doesn’t mean being a “follower” or being weak-willed. It just means someone else had a a good idea.
Natal Uranus opposing Cain’s Sagittarius sun indicates that Cain is also not one to follow habits. If the urge strikes him to eat pizza for breakfast, even if there is no cold pizza in the fridge, he will eat pizza. He does what he wants and what he wants varies from minute to minute. He probably has erratic sleeping habits as well.
Sagittarius is the archer, the half man half horse sign of the zodiac that looks upward. That means Sagittarius is optimistic. Gemini, the opposite of Sagittarius, wants facts. Sagittarius wants meaning.
With the abundance of fire and air, Cain is one talker. He probably talks all day and night and then, in his sleep. You can try to get him to stop talking. Good luck.
Cain’s Image
From an astrological viewpoint, what Cain has to offer is optimism and hope and a wider meaning to our struggles as a nation. I know — that’s stealing Obama’s tag line.
Cain’s 9-9-9 plan was brilliant. Nine is the number of fulfillment. 9 + 9 + 9 equals 27. 2 + 7 equals 9.
Is there a numerologist on his staff?
Abundance is the gift of Sagittarius. What Cain must guard against is having his optimism come across as “let them eat cake.” He has to appear hopeful without appearing deluded. He has to find a way to make people feel fulfilled while their pockets are empty.
Thanksgiving falls, sometimes, in the sign of Sagittarius. This year it does. Cain could make Thanksgiving his campaign theme – be thankful for what you have, hopeful for what you want.
Sagittarius and his fire-sign compatriots (Aries and Leo) are prone to inflated egos. Cain must also take pains to look humble. He may have learned humility while Pluto was transiting his sun back in 2005-2009. But if he hasn’t, he’d better just act the part.
In other words, don’t get cocky.
Fire says, “It’s all about me.” Cain must turn that into “through me it’s all about you.”
Fire razes, so Cain is impulsive. With that Uranus opposing the sun and widely opposing Venus and Mercury, Cain has foot in the mouth disease. As the pressure mounts, he will need to find some way to think about what he’s going to say. That won’t be easy.
Sideburns
And lastly, Ohio Astrology recommends, again, that Cain grow sideburns. Cain is a handsome man who could pull this off. Since Cain has guts he could challenge the idea that to look presidential you have to look boring. Cain, with so much fire and air, is hardly boring.
