Republican Debate Prep Sheet – January 16 in South Carolina

What is there left for the Republican presidential candidates to talk about after so many debates?

Current Republican presidential candidate discussion revolves around how greedy businessmen fire lots of people and make bucket loads of money doing it. After discussing how mean and selfish it is to make lots of money while your co-religionist brothers are desperate for work, they can move on to the topic of how each of the men on the stage made their own millions.

Better to get the “greedy businessmen” conversation fleshed out before the final candidate debates with President Obama where support of corporate interests will need a hearty defense.

The January 16 Transits

Avid OHA readers already know that Mars is in Virgo and Saturn in Libra. The “enthusiasm deficit,” as it’s being called, is in full force. Mars will be in Virgo until July so bring some streamers to the debate, candidates, as you’ll have to whip up your own enthusiasm. Mars will not bring it.

The three fastest moving “planets” – moon, Mercury and Venus, are the focus of this debate sheet. The trans-earth planets are where they were in the last debate. The sun is still in serious, after-Christmas Capricorn.

Tomorrow’s moon during the debate will be in Scorpio, Mercury in Capricorn and Venus in Pisces. Scorpio and Pisces are water signs and Capricorn is an earth sign.

The mood is serious and intense right now. The only fire in the sky right now is Uranus in Aries. Fire comes rarely and unexpectedly right now, like lightening that knocks out the power supply.

It’s a good time to eat and drink, if that helps.

South Carolina Horoscope

South Carolina’s horoscope, based on its admittance to the Union, is a Gemini sun and Capricorn moon. Gemini and Capricorn in combination are a practical, facts-oriented entity with little empathy. Candidates must talk in facts and figures to this state but must also have some wit and flair.

Do not cry. Leave any and all pity in New Hampshire.

SC’s Mars in Leo opposite Pluto in Aquarius represents a proud state with a struggle between self and group assertion.

The horoscope of SC also has a cardinal T-square of moon (in Capricorn), Venus (in Cancer) and Neptune (in Libra). This is the very T-square being activated now by Pluto (in Capricorn), Saturn (in Libra) and Uranus (in Aries).

Uranus transiting Aries makes a grand cross out of this T-square. SC is struggling with the ole’ me-you-family-career axis.

SC is a proud and social penny pincher who loves family but sneaks out at night to go to a horse race.

Candidate Prep Sheet

Today’s order will be by performance in New Hampshire.

Mitt Romney – The Scorpio moon and Piscean Venus are good for you. Your serious and somber nature is in flow with the energies of the evening. Seriousness is good. But remember, SC’s sun is in Gemini so say something witty or clever too. In fact, say something different, just for fun.

Ron Paul – It must be frustrating to be a Leo sun right now when all the planets are in earth and water signs. You want everyone to go outside and have a bonfire and they want to sit in the bathtub. Transiting Venus is on your Saturn in Pisces. You’ll feel a connection, but don’t know how to express it. Act vulnerable for a minute – the crowd will like it.

Jon Huntsman – The news says there is an enthusiasm deficit in the race but the transiting planets keep throwing water and earth on any kindling that threatens to spark. Double Aries is fiery and aggressive but I don’t see that in your debates. Maybe your moon is really in Pisces? If so, soak in the Piscean “we are one” energy and throw it back at ‘em with an air of Aries pride.

Newt Gingrich – Whew! After Iowa and New Hampshire, you’re finally a little more in your element and not just from being a Southern boy. Your Gemini twist on words and ideas is enjoyed in this Gemini sun state. Your “pious baloney” accusations will receive raucous laughter. You can take being humiliated in public, unlike your proud fire- and sensitive water-sign contenders. Revel in retorting each and every deliciously vicious attack.

Rick Santorum – SC’s Mars (in Leo) is opposite your moon (in Aquarius). You might appear too uptight for these folks. They may be uptight too, with moon in Capricorn, but they don’t know it. Wear something light or silly to the debate to show them that while you are serious, you can laugh at yourself. Find a way to appear serious but fun. Be seriously fun.

Rick Perry – While the earth and water energy should make you feel comfortable in SC, I just don’t see how this energy ultimately helps or propels you forward. Do not confuse comfort for success. You’re like a fish removed from the ocean and thrown into the hotel swimming pool. You just know that you’re in your element and that’s all your care about. You swim soundly not knowing the pool is not the ocean and that the pool has a filtration system that may chop you into sushi. SC is not the ocean.

Kate Middleton’s Solar Return 2012

With the time of birth, astrologers can cast a “solar return” which involves casting a chart at the exact time of your true birthday.

What is your true birthday?

It is when the sun returns to the exact degree and minute (and second, of course) that it was placed when you were born. For example, if you were born around midnight on January 1, 2012 in Greenwich, your sun would be at 9 degrees, 57 minutes and 27 seconds of Capricorn. The next time the sun reaches 09:57:27 of Capricorn will be on December 31, 2012, not January 1, 2013. On January 1, 2013 midnight, the sun will be at 10:45:45 of Capricorn (GMT).

Make sense?

Casting the solar return I’ve found to be an accurate depiction of where a year’s energy will focus. While I didn’t do well this year on my friend from Texas’ solar return, I’ll give it a try with Kate Middleton. This solar return uses the Astrotheme horoscope with time at 11:33 p.m. GMT.

Kate Middleton’s Focus for 2012

Middleton’s solar return sun (in Capricorn) is in the 1st house and solar moon (in Leo) is in the 7th house. In addition to the sun in the 1st house, Pluto and Mercury are also hanging out there, both in Capricorn.

In her natal horoscope, Middleton’s sun is in the shy, inward-looking, home-oriented 4th house. Her moon, while in the house of career, is in Cancer, which normally rules the 4th house. While Kate is in the public eye, she’s both shy and controlling about her public image.

Mercury, Pluto and sun in the solar return 1st house means Middleton will be more honest and open about her true self. Mercury and Pluto indicate transformative communications, especially about her Capricorn matters of career and state. Middleton may find herself the spokesperson for the family this year.

Moon in Leo in the solar return 7th house suggests she’ll be getting major kickback from others as she develops her new communication style. In Capricorn, her communications are factual, blunt and to the point. The Leo moon “others” of the 7th house may be asking her to show more “regality” in her speech.

Middleton, as a true Capricorn, may also try to take over where she’s not needed. Capricorn is the Executive whereas Leo is the King. Middleton may try to take over as CEO and be reminded that the King trumps the CEO in the English deck of cards.

Who said life as royalty was easy?

Capricorn seeks the path of most resistance, not least. Middleton is probably aware of the challenge she has taken on. Capricorn needs a task, a purpose. Middleton has chosen one and is probably looking forward to success. Like all true success, it involves overcoming hurdles.

Middleton’s solar return Jupiter in Taurus is in the 4th house indicating acquisition of material goods and property. Prince Harry has this going on as well so maybe some shifts and/or transfer of royal property is occurring.

In the 2nd house of money, Venus and Neptune are hanging together as good friends in the sign of Aquarius. This, too, suggests the acquisition of money through community and/or social endeavors. With Neptune, though, one must be careful that there is no foul play involved in managing community assets.

Saturn in Libra in the 10th house of the solar return says there are still some work and/or public image issues to resolve. This is in loose square to the solar return sun in the 1st. Again, I think Middleton will get slapped on the hand for some of her communication. Her partner (Saturn in Libra) will be saying “You’re trying to be too much in control. Just be nice, just smile.”

Solar return Mars (in Virgo) is in the 9th house and Uranus (in Aries) is in the 3rd. That indicates lots of travel, some of it sudden, and possibly to help people in need (Virgo). The image that comes to mind is of Middleton traveling to the place of some catastrophe, man or god made, and helping others while also making public pleas for assistance.

This year appears to be a transformation in communication and public style for Middleton. In her past as a model, her physical beauty and charisma were all that were necessary. This year she will learn that what she has to say and how she says it is powerful.

What Sign of the Zodiac is the Tooth Fairy?

Nerds have all kinds of interests from the physics nerds of The Big Bang Theory to astrology nerds like yours truly. I’ve been thinking about the zodiac sign that best describes the tooth fairy when I could have instead been having productive thoughts such as how to promote world peace, how to thaw the ice on my sidewalk or whether a coupon-tracking app has any potential for success.

Why do we have a ritual and myth around children losing teeth?

Teeth (and bones and skin) are ruled by Saturn. They are the hardest, toughest parts of your body. The skin provides a boundary between your nerves and the world – it keeps you inside of you. The bones provide the structure of your body. Your teeth allow you to process food, the stuff of life. Anything entering your body must pass the choppy grinder of the teeth.

If you lost a finger, how would you feel?

Losing teeth is losing a part of the body. We forget that it’s a scary process, to lose a part of one’s body. Possibly that is why there is a tooth fairy and not a “nail fairy” or “hair fairy” as we lose nails and hair all the time but neither is an appendage and neither creates fear (unless we lose all of our nails and hair due to illness or cancer treatment).

The Tooth Fairy is a Capricorn

The tooth fairy, then, is a Capricorn, which is ruled by Saturn. Saturn is also father time and breeds mature individuals who take a very serious view of material life.

Losing teeth and gaining new ones also indicates that we are maturing. Maturing is part of getting older. The new teeth are the ones you will have for the rest of your earthly existence. Your baby teeth are gone and your adult teeth have arrived. If you’re buried in the earth after death, your bones and teeth may stick around for quite a while depending on the climate.

Why does the tooth fairy bring money?

How does money help us relieve the anxiety of losing a body part and transitioning into maturity?

Clearly the tooth fairy is an agent of the insurance industry!

Using money to relieve the anxiety of losing a body part and maturing says a lot about the cultures that created this “myth.” Money does not truly help us move emotionally from childhood to adulthood.

The tooth fairy is not on par with the “gods” of ancient mythology. She is not releasing the energies of our psyches into imaginative form. The tooth fairy is, instead, a messenger of the consumer world indicating that money is a salve and comforts us in the face of old age and death.

Why is the tooth fairy a “she” instead of a “he?”

Dwelling this snowy day on the tooth fairy, I think we have made a mythological misstep. The tooth fairy should have been the “Tooth Senex” or “Tooth Grandfather” who reminds us that losing teeth is part of maturing and that our body is our vehicle through the whole of life. As children we lose our teeth; as adults, other body parts may fail.

“Tooth Grandfather” would not leave money, but would teach us that we have made the great journey from the fog of childhood onto the conscious path of adulthood and the rest of our lives. Tooth Grandfather would explain how important it is to take care of our body, the only body we will have for the rest of our lives. Our teeth replaced themselves, but this will not happen again with our teeth or any other body part.

And what would Tooth Grandfather lay under the pillow when he took away the tooth?

The best gift would be dental floss. A 2008 survey found that only 49% of Americans floss daily and 10% never floss at all.

If those teeth are traveling with us from childhood until the great beyond, we really should take care of them.

The Tooth Grandfather’s message could be that our teeth, like our adult lives, are our responsibility. Santa Claus may bring you gifts, but he can’t bring you a replacement body part.

Tooth Grandfather could bring the floss of responsibility into your life.

Taiwan’s Fireless Presidential Candidates

There are just four planets in fire signs in all of the three charts of the candidates running for president of Taiwan. Water and earth are the dominant elements in these candidates.

Water and earth are quite fitting for the leader of a mountainous island surrounded by water. Natural disasters affecting this political entity are typhoons (aka hurricanes) and earthquakes.

The Most

James Soong is the most stubborn and determined candidate with the sun, Mercury, Saturn and Uranus in Taurus. Taurus is a fixed earth sign and this man probably holds lots of property and tangible assets. This is one New-Taiwan-Dollar pincher. Soong is like the mountain that doesn’t move. He only moves by earthquake.

Ma Ying Jeou is the most moody and unpredictable candidate. With sun in Cancer and moon probably in Gemini but possibly in Cancer, you might find him easy to talk to (好说话) one moment an unpleasant the next. With only one planet in a fixed sign (Pluto in Leo), Ma is not very reliable. Ma is also the most socially adept with Mars conjunct Neptune in Libra which makes one very charismatic. Ma is like a typhoon with lots of wind and water.

Tsai Ying Wen is the most studious and diligent. With sun in Virgo and moon either in Gemini or Cancer, this woman remembers everything down to the character stroke. She’s detail oriented to the point where she misses the forest for the trees. She has two of the four fire signs in the candidates’ charts, but those planets are Pluto and Uranus in Leo. She feels the fire of the people, but lacks fire within. Tsai is like the school exam system with details and processes.

Transits from Mars to Pluto

Mars in Virgo. This is good for Soong who has Neptune in Virgo which trines his Taurus planets. This transit makes him more charismatic than he normally appears. This transit is good for Tsai as it energizes her sun and Jupiter. This transit is not good for Ma because it conjuncts his Saturn making him insecure, anxious and verbally mean.

Jupiter in Taurus. This transit is excellent for Soong because it expands his Taurus nature giving him more possessions. For him, the presidency is seen as another “possession.” For Tsai, this transit is also good because it gives her earth/water more stability, although I don’t know her time of birth to know in which house it is transiting. For Ma, this transit is mildly good but doesn’t help or hurt him.

Saturn in Libra. For Soong, this is a bad transit causing problems with women and the population. Relationships may fail under this transit. For Tsai, this transit also challenges relationships but brings romance. The challenge comes from family. For Ma, this transit is bad because it puts a damper on his natural charisma.

Uranus in Aries. This transit is difficult for all the candidates because it is sudden, jolting fire energy into charts that have little fire. They all try to suppress uprisings or aggressive behavior.

Neptune in Aquarius (almost Pisces). Soong has the most difficulty with this energy because the people are forcing ideals into their lives. Soong is about stability and tradition, not radical change. Tsai can handle this energy better because she manages details and processes, but resists the extreme ideas. Ma handles this best because of his ability to change and lack of true commitment to his own beliefs.

Pluto in Capricorn. Soong can handle this aspect which reflects changes to societal structures because he’s so involved in them with the Taurus energy. He has enough material security to handle these types of changes. Tsai will have some problems with this energy because she will react emotionally to it as it opposes her Venus. Ma has the most difficulty with this transit because it opposes all of his Cancer energy – it disrupts his comforts and family life.

Summary

Ma seems the most charismatic, but with Saturn transiting Libra his charisma is being cut off in some way. With Pluto opposite his sun, he is receiving strong opposition which will change him. Soong is definitely the strongest, but with Saturn on his moon the people just might not like him enough. He will definitely gain materially. Tsai may be too nervous and jittery for the job, but Mars in Virgo energizes her.

They all have challenges. Astrology doesn’t tell me who will win but I’m guessing that Tsai may win.

By the time this is posted, they may have already decided.

Political Fathers and Sons

Many sons follow in their father’s footsteps both in personality and profession. In our horoscopes, both the sun and Saturn relate to the father. The sun is the conscious self and Saturn represents society’s structures and “success” in society.

Saturn, and the sign it rules, Capricorn, are ultimately interested in respect.

Saturn is also the planet of contraction and appears in our personality as an Achilles Heel that we want to overcome. When looking at a chart, I always take a glance at Saturn to see where an individual feels a bit of “lack” in themselves.

Recent Political Fathers and Sons

The most recent fathers and sons of politics, in order of eldest father, are:

1. George Romney – Mitt Romney
2. Albert Gore Sr. – Albert Gore Jr.
3. George H. W. Bush – George W. Bush
4. Ron Paul – Rand Paul

Saturn Contacts Between Father and Son

There is a strong Saturn contact between father and son in all of the charts. That’s not an uncommon thing in itself; however, it may speak to the career choices of these particular political sons.

Let’s take a look at those Saturn contacts by father/son.

The Romneys

George Romney’s Saturn is conjunct Mitt Romney’s sun (in Pisces). Romney Sr. had sun and two other planets in Cancer and moon and two other planets in Gemini.

Cancer and Gemini combined make for one moody individual. I’m guessing that one day Romney Sr. was loving and the next day harsh and contradictory. He might even have been the type to wake his kids in the middle of the night with some weird activity or request. He may even have been what we today call bi-polar.

Romney Sr.’s Saturn in Pisces indicates that for all his emotional and social energy, he didn’t feel a spiritual connection with others. His sun in Pisces son is doing that for him.

Romney Jr. can connect emotionally with others through his Pisces sun and Scorpio moon. In fact, this is a man who wants to connect emotionally with you or not at all. In running for office, Romney Jr. may be trying to emotionally connect to the country in a way his father never could.

The Gores

Albert Gore Sr. has Saturn in Pisces conjunct Mars in Pisces. Saturn and Mars conjunct can make for a nasty individual due to the aggressive instincts meeting the restrictive instructs which creates intense frustration. In the sign of Pisces, the nastiness would be through emotional manipulation. Gore Sr. also had sun in Capricorn and moon in Virgo so I’m guessing no one could please this man.

Gore Sr.’s Saturn is conjunct Gore Jr.’s Mercury. Mercury is about communication. Most likely when growing up, Gore Jr. was told that what he had to say didn’t matter or that he was speaking too imaginatively.

Interesting enough, after serving in Vietnam, Gore Jr. decided to become a journalist. While he moved from journalism to politics, now Gore Jr. is the spokesman for environmental issues.

Gore Jr. may be living out his father’s desire to speak emotionally and truthfully without fearing criticism and loss of respect. Being associated with such groups as “tree huggers” would have probably been a turn off for Gore Sr.

The Bushes

We already know that George Sr. and George Jr. had some difficulties with George Jr. even threatening to go “mano a mano” with dad. What causes that?

Bush Sr.’s Saturn is conjunct Bush Jr.’s moon. Bush Sr. has Saturn conjunct his own moon in Libra. In great contrast, Bush Jr. has the benevolent Jupiter conjunct his Libra moon.

Saturn conjunct the moon leads not only to a reserved personality, but one that needs emotional control of the surroundings. Jupiter conjunct the moon, on the other hand, is a placement that brings lots of friends and lovers for simple good times.

Bush Sr. probably did not have a loving relationship with his mother and envied Bush Jr.’s relationship with both his mother (Barbara Bush) and Bush Jr.’s relationships with friends. In other words, Bush Sr.’s popular son made him feel insecure about his own popularity and identity.

Bush Jr.’s Saturn in Cancer is square his moon in Libra. Bush Jr. probably feels more at home with friends and associates, who truly enjoy being with him, than with family.

Bush Jr., then, may have continued his father’s policies (with all of his father’s men) to give his dad the satisfaction of being liked by others. While Bush Jr. had his opponents (including this writer), he was more popular as president than his father, serving two terms to his father’s one term.

In other words, Bush Jr. was popular for his dad. He made the name Bush more than a footnote of history.

The Rands

Ron Paul’s Saturn in Pisces is on his son Rand Paul’s Jupiter which is part of a T-square with Pluto/Uranus in Virgo and moon in Gemini.

Paul Sr. puts a lid on Paul Jr. when Jr. gets too imaginative or makes impulsive changes. Paul Jr. is a Capricorn sun with Gemini moon. Capricorn is practical enough for Paul Sr.’s moon in Taurus. But the Gemini moon T-square Jupiter in Pisces and Pluto/Uranus in Virgo can sometimes run fast with an idea before doing all the number crunching, all the cost/benefit analyses, all the spreadsheets.

Paul Jr. is faster than his methodical dad. Paul Sr. wants to make a bench in the basement and Paul Jr. is thinking about what color to paint it and if pink benches can be sold in bulk to the Daughters of the American Revolution groups in the entire state of Texas.

While Paul Jr. is thinking of the possibilities, Paul Sr. is spending 20 minutes looking for a new nail because the one he is using is slightly bent.

Paul Jr.’s Mars is in Leo conjunct his dad’s sun in Leo. Paul Jr. is probably does much to get his father excited, out of his chair and out of his book. Maybe Ron Paul running for president is truly Jr.’s idea.

Paul Jr. in holding political office may be showing his dad how optimism can motivate people and how change often occurs in fits and starts. He’s also showing dad that to seize opportunity, one must move quickly.

Do people remember more the one who warned them about the earthquake or the one who helped them out of the crack in the earth?

The Human Chain

Maybe this is how humanity progresses – sons draw energy from the weaknesses of their fathers and move humanity forward one inch and then their own sons do the same, moving one additional inch.

Saturn, then, is a glacier that moves slowly. If a glacier were to move quickly, it would create devastation in the climate and environment.

The Serious Michelle Obama

Election year has begun! While the Republican Presidential candidates are busy attacking each other and evil businessmen who make lots of money, “The Obamas,” a book about Barack Obama’s family, has been published.

While I love reading history, these are the kinds of books I avoid. Publishing is a business like any other and releasing a book about an incumbent president during election year is solely a way to make money. From an historical point of view, if you write about something while it is occurring it’s journalism, not history. While I enjoy the gossip of these types of books, I think it takes years after events for books to be published that truly explain historical events.

Sun in Capricorn / Moon in Aquarius

Michelle Obama has sun in Capricorn and moon either in Aquarius or Pisces. Astrotheme has chosen the Aquarius moon based on someone’s chart rectification of Obama’s life events.

Finding Obama difficult to understand, I would agree with the Aquarius moon which would be conjunct Saturn in Aquarius.

Glancing at the charts of Obama’s husband and children, there is a preponderance of air signs in the family (Aquarius is air).

Serious Person

Sun in Capricorn and moon in Aquarius is one serious person. It’s serious squared with a mind like a file cabinet. Barack Obama was quoted somewhere as saying that his wife has always, regardless of his position in life, treated him like any old husband making sure he picked up milk (or eggs or orange juice) from the grocery on the way home.

Obama probably has numerous running lists in her mind. She is focused and productive, always. No lying around the house watching re-runs of Green Acres, not even on a rainy day. Rainy days are for cleaning out closets. Sunny days are for mowing the yard (after you finish your homework and before you clean your room).

Mercury is in serious earth sign Capricorn and Uranus and Pluto are in detail-oriented, earth sign Virgo. Obama does not miss a detail or a piece of lint on your shirt. You’d better approach her with your facts straight and your shoes tied.

Saturn conjunct the Moon

Saturn conjunct the moon represents very reserved emotions due to a childhood where one was asked not to express emotions, for one reason or another. In Aquarius, it suggests that one had to be logical and able to explain everything one felt.

The image that comes to mind is of an academic household where ideas were discussed at the dinner table and if you happened to say you had a bad day at school because someone stole you lunch, your hurt feelings were glossed over as your parents tried to explain theories of psychology and socio-economics.

In other words, Obama probably grew up in a household where pity and self-pity were discouraged and idealism and learning were encouraged. Rationality in human beings is always a treat except when you just need a hug because you scraped your knee. It’s difficult to explain rationally.

Planets in Water and Fire

Obama does have a couple of planets in water – Neptune in Scorpio and Venus in Pisces. In partnership and friendship Obama is empathetic and caring.

Jupiter is in Aries showing a strong confidence in self. I don’t know where that Jupiter in Aries is placed in the horoscope (while Astrotheme’s chart provides a time, it is still a rectified chart).

Attraction to Barack Obama

When I first looked at the charts of Michelle and Barack Obama, I had trouble understanding the attraction. Google once again came to the rescue and I found this interview with Michelle Obama:

In the interview, her primary reason for marrying Obama was his love for his mother. Later in the story she’s quoted as saying:

“And he’s cute,” she added, “I always thought he would be useful. But I had no idea he was going to be president.”

She “thought he would be useful.” I’m guessing she meant useful to society but that’s not the quote. Remember, the key phrase for Capricorn is “I use.”

Barack Obama’s Saturn (in Capricorn) is directly on Michelle Obama’s sun in Capricorn. To have someone’s Saturn on your sun means that they restrict or control you in some way. They are a “heavy” in your life. They bring duty and responsibility in your world. Often the person is much older.

Many folks don’t like that feeling.

Barack Obama’s Mars in Virgo trines Michelle Obama’s sun in Capricorn and conjuncts her Uranus/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn. Virgo is a practical earth sign saying his drive for work and health is pleasing to her.

The traditional indicators of physical attraction, his Mars on her Venus (if you know what I mean), are minimal. Michelle Obama’s Mars in Aquarius is trine Barack Obama’s moon in Gemini. His Jupiter in Aquarius is conjunct her Mars in Aquarius. Her Venus in Pisces is trine his Venus in Cancer.

Michelle Obama’s attraction to Barack Obama appears to be more about his ability to create a household and work environment than butterflies in the stomach.

Neither partner is strong in emotion. Possibly it’s the Venus connection – hers in Pisces and his in Cancer that united them. I suspect that for both the one and only place they dare to express their deepest feelings is with each other.

Maybe their attraction to each other is just that – as a refuge, the one place to say you feel like crying for no particular reason.

Marriage Time

The Obamas married in 1992 as Obama was nearing her Saturn return. Pluto was transiting her Neptune (in Scorpio), the transiting Uranus/Neptune conjunction was moving toward her sun and transiting Saturn was conjunct her Mars (in Aquarius).

Marriage was a serious endeavor for her, in line with her serious personality. All married folks suffer disillusion of some sort in marriage and I’m guessing the Obama’s behind-the-scenes view of marriage was quite intense with Pluto transiting Neptune and Neptune transiting her sun.

Pluto transiting Capricorn

Pluto is currently transiting Capricorn, already conjunct Obama’s Mercury indicating transformation in communication and daily routines.

It will be a few years before the slow-moving Pluto conjuncts her sun and another Capricorn transformation will emerge in the world.

Because Obama is such a serious person, Pluto will not scare her the way it does the air and fire signs of the zodiac. She’s primed for a serious life so nothing should set this very stubborn individual off course.

Maybe Obama will follow the path of another strong, serious and focused female first lady – Hillary Clinton.

Obama has played her Capricorn cards well and appears to be respected (the highest honor for Capricorn) as a strong and serious individual. Whatever she chooses to do after First-Lady-Hood, she will undoubtedly be successful.

Romney the Inevitable

January 11, 3012

Chapter 1: The Beginning

A millennium ago when the magnetic fields of the earth were shifting and the waters of the ocean were warming, a man named Romney the Inevitable ran for the presidency of what was then called the “United States of America.” Romney the Inevitable was the son of Romney the Elder.

During the 2,000 year age of Pisces, the people of the earth were frequently worried about falling off the edge of the world and the ending of the world. The Piscean energy of merging with others and with the divine both inspired and scared the people of the earth.

Romney the Inevitable carried watery Piscean and Scorpio energy and lacked a fire of the spirit. The mood of the people was grim and while Romney the Inevitable did not stir the passions of the people, they accepted with resignation a leader who appeared to be inevitable as no joyous contender was able to defeat Romney the Inevitable through the contemporary mode of warfare called, in Olde American English, “primaries.”

These “primaries” were fought with electronic devices called “voting machines,” the sword having long fallen out of disfavor as the weapon of overthrow. The machines employed ancient techniques of technology and the people did not look behind the machines to examine how they functioned.

Just prior to Romney the Inevitable, paper that was called “money” and was used for trade was printed in excess during Pluto in Sagittarius causing the people to trade unequally. The printers of the excess paper watched over this unequal trade and benefited by its outcome. The people, however, suffered from it.

The people were made poor and greatly saddened as Pluto entered Capricorn. The housing and labor structures of the people were greatly disturbed by the contracting energy (Capricorn) that followed the excess energy (Sagittarius). The people knew not what happened.

In the one hundred years prior to Romney the Inevitable, Capricorn societal structures had become larger and larger until few, but extraordinarily powerful, structures remained.

As Romney the Inevitable tried to overtake the presidency of the United States, Uranus in Aries made the people of the earth angry and they began to lash out at their rulers. As the people lashed out, Pluto began destroying the societal structures so people believed in them no more. Neptune entering Pisces made the people search again for union with the divine while still fearing personal extinction.

Challengers to Romney the Inevitable

There were several challengers to Romney the Inevitable who fell, one by one. First was Bach-not-Man a female contender. While she had the jolting energy of Uranus upon her, she fell quickly as the country did not prefer female rulers, having had none in its then 236-year history.

The second opponent was called Governor of Texas (Gobernador de Tejas in Spanish), Texas being a state in the Union before it seceded in 2050 to become its own country (before later being annexed by Mexico in 2075). Governor of Texas was suffering the combined energy of Virgo and Pisces and was not able to perform without considerable anxiety and thereby fell by illness of the nerves.

The third opponent was called Her-Nine due to his use of the magical number 9 during his challenge. Her-Nine was influenced by the fire energy which greatly roused the melancholy people. The watery energy of his challengers put out his fire by using the Power of Female against him.

The fourth opponent was called Newt-Get-Rich. This was the most slippery contender greatly under the influence of the sign Gemini. Newt-Get-Rich fell by his own tongue which lashed out randomly and ultimately retracted and strangled Newt-Get-Rich.

The fifth opponent was called Rick Swordman who was of fixed nature and strong opinion. Rick Swordman fell on his own sword of causes, which did not bend, which ended his challenge.

The sixth opponent was called Ron the Elder who had fixed energy and devoted followers but was not of the youthful agility to overcome Romney the Inevitable. Ron the Elder continued to guide the people through his tales of the past and stories of the paper “money.”

The seventh and final challenger was called Jon the Hunter (狩猎 in Chinese). Jon the Hunter hid his double Aries warrior energy from the people for a long time. Like a feline, Jon the Hunter examined his prey well before attack and sprung from hidden places. Unfortunately, Jon the Hunter forgot to spring.

Five Career Options for Rick Santorum

Rick Santorum isn’t doing too well ( 不太好 Chinese) in New Hampshire at the time of this writing. Andy Warhol was right – we all get our 15 minutes of fame and 15 minutes to stand next to Mitt Romney.

If Jon Huntsman, who is running third behind Romney and Ron Paul, stays in the race, maybe he will have the honored spot next to Romney in any future debates. If I recall, Paul was standing next to Romney in the last debate (January 8) even though he hadn’t quite earned a “not-Romney” designation due to the fact the Republican Party wants to ignore him.

Tomorrow will tell if Santorum will go to South Carolina. To help him consider options, Ohio Astrology has put together, as it has done for other past and present contenders, some career options should president of the United States be off the table for Santorum.

Five Career Options

  1. Auctioneer – In the first 300 debates (or however many it was), Santorum was off on the sidelines and when given a rare opportunity to speak often covered 10-20 topics in 30 seconds. Santorum is a clear and rapid speaker and would make an excellent auctioneer. He may need some additional training but I think he has the “say as much as you can in every second” down pat.
  2. Judge – Santorum’s fixed personality which contains very clear ideas of right and wrong would make for an excellent judge. If you’re a judge you have to make decisions even if you’re tired, or don’t care or really have no opinion, and Santorum can do that, and quickly.
  3. Cult leader – Santorum’s Taurus sun and Aquarius moon are both fixed signs. Taurus is a strong and charismatic sign that does well in cult leadership.
  4. Biosphere leader – Santorum is both earthy-practical and airy-inventive. He is quirky enough to think through the details of a biosphere and then determined enough to gather the citizens of this self-contained ecosystem.
  5. Rancher – If Santorum ever decided to give up his “causes,” I could see him happily contented on a large ranch like Ted Turner or Robert Redford. Maybe like Redford he could also create a movie company and promote films that focus on his causes.

Ohio Astrology’s Republican Debate Prep Sheet: January 7, 2012

Good news! With Michele Bachmann out of the race, the remaining six candidates will have more time to talk. OHA’s estimate is that each candidate will have an extra THREE MINUTES.

That’s lots of time to explain how the Federal Reserve has brought the economy to its knees or how to overhaul the entire US health care system or the history of US intervention in Iran and why we should be involved now. I hope the candidates use these precious minutes wisely.

January 7 Energy

The sun is in Capricorn and it’s a great time to organize. Where I work, we are selling lots of organizing apparatus right now – bookshelves, plastic organizing bins, notebooks, calendars and storage containers.

The candidates need to remember that it’s Capricorn time – get serious and organized. Make tough talk. Sound authoritative. Pretend you rule Cuba.

Mars is still in Virgo and will be there until next July. For more on this transit by candidate, click here.

Tomorrow’s moon will be in Cancer meaning that the audience wants some emotional output, they want to feel comfort from the candidates.

Today’s debate prep sheet will be in OHA’s special order based on my preference at this particular moment in time. I choose to start with Rick Perry because this will probably be the last time he’s included in this roundup and he will probably have one question or less at this debate, trading places with Rick Santorum who spent the first 300 debates (or however many it was) at the Siberian end of the stage.

January 7 Debate Prep Sheet

Rick Perry – Transiting Mars in Virgo means you’re still nervous. Transiting Pluto opposite your natal Uranus means you’re still nervous. Transiting Moon conjuncting your natal Uranus means you’re still nervous. Transiting Neptune on your Mercury means that your speech is erratic and unclear (and that you’re still nervous). There are three ways to relieve your nervousness: 1) bring your family and make sure they are in eye view 2) prescription or non-prescription drugs or 3) don’t run for president.

Ron Paul – Transiting Mars will be conjunct your natal Venus in Virgo so your persnickety Virgo air will be out in full force. This energy is like going to the same diner every Sunday and complaining every Sunday that the eggs are runny. Transiting Venus in Aquarius doesn’t mind that you complain about the eggs, but wants you to explain why you go to the same diner if you don’t like the eggs. Transiting Mercury in Sagittarius wants you to lighten up a bit and find a clever way to make the eggs palatable, like drenching them in some Mexican salsa.

Jon Huntsman – Long time no see (很久 不见 in Chinese). The transiting moon in Cancer makes people want to watch a sad movie just so they have a reason to cry. This type of behavior is quite alien to you. You might want to tell a sad tale about someone you met on the campaign trail. Transiting Neptune and Venus are on your natal Mars so the lighting will treat you well – dress especially nice. Transiting Mercury in Sagittarius means it’s okay to talk about foreign places and express grand plans, which is good since that’s your specialty.

Rick Santorum – You’re the new Not-Romney so you’ll also get to stand (or sit) Next-to-Romney as a reward. Transiting Mercury will be conjunct your Saturn. Your natal Saturn in Sagittarius suggests that your worldview isn’t optimistic or expansive. I’m guessing you’re going to be beat hard on this. Your brick-like debating style shows you have some cajones, but Mercury transiting your Saturn will challenge your lack of hopeful or joyous feelings. Have you ever done something for no reason, just for the heck of it? Bring that feeling with you tomorrow. In fact, think like Santa Claus. Make your unique ideas sound interesting rather than restrictive as Venus and Neptune transit your Aquarius moon.

Mitt Romney – Mars is directly opposite your sun so the daggers being thrown at you will change into swords. Transiting moon in Cancer is good for you because your watery, emotional energy will be appreciated. Transiting Mercury in Sagittarius squares your Piscean Mars, Mercury and sun. Like Santorum, it’s time to sound hopeful and optimistic while dodging the bullets. Tomorrow’s energy seems kind of flat for you. Maybe you will be the one-question candidate this time.

Newt Gingrich – Transiting Mercury in Sagittarius on your chart is like adding charcoal to a volcano. Transiting moon in Cancer means that you should have waited until this debate to cry. I think you lost the moment by crying in Iowa. Transiting Venus and Neptune in Aquarius means that you have to say “we” a lot rather than “I.” Transiting Mars will be on your natal Neptune which will overload your mental circuits. Rick Perry’s nervousness may be rubbing off on you. In general transiting Mars in Virgo is activating a T-square in your chart. I imagine a lot of insomnia with this placement. Relax.

If you want to host a news show, what sign should you be?

When I heard that grumpy and cantankerous Capricorn Charlie Rose would host CBS’ morning news show, I wondered why so many Capricorns make it in this realm (and why one would want to wake to Charlie Rose – I thought he was the one to put us to sleep).

Why aren’t news shows filled with Geminis and Sagittarians, the two signs that love to talk about news and ideas and generally just love to talk?

In a blog about talk show hosts, I noticed that Aquarians prevail in daytime talk shows.

Why Aquarius for a talk show and Capricorn for a news show?

I think it’s because Aquarius talks WITH the audience and Capricorn talks TO the audience. Aquarius is friendship and Capricorn is authority.

What is authority?

Dictionary.com definition of authority is “the power to determine, adjudicate, or otherwise settle issues or disputes; jurisdiction; the right to control, command, or determine.”

The “right to control.” Interesting. Who bestows this right?

I think Lord of the Flies describes it best – authority establishes itself. I am authority because I say I am authority. Remember as children responding to an argument with “because I said so?” You were establishing yourself as authority.

Parenthood is the only natural authority-bestowing situation in our lives. The rest is kind of made up.

Seriousness

Capricorns are serious folks. They may also appear on news shows more than other signs because of a serious and mature nature.

Jennifer Lopez or Katie Couric can tell you that the US invaded Iraq. It’s the same information. We here in the US want to hear it from Katie Couric (watch Mexican news some time to see how different the female news anchors are from US female news anchors).

Capricorns probably also appear in the corporate news shows because they know how to “toe the line.” As purveyors of authority, they do not always challenge authority. If Bush calls the invasion of Iraq “the war on terror,” then our Capricorn hosts call it “the war on terror.”

Generation Gap

While there are too many news show hosts to study on this sunny morning, I did notice in the chart above that the Capricorns are older and the newer news show hosts are from non-Capricorn signs.

As Pluto transits Capricorn, our Capricorn anchors may pass into the annals of history as they focus instead on the disintegrating structures of their lives.

I can’t image waking to Charlie Rose. He’s not my “cup of coffee” but he may be yours. I’m guessing that this time next year will see a new host in his chair.
